Topstep: the true cost, before you pay.
What a 50K and a 100K Topstep evaluation really costs, how the drawdown works and when you can get paid. Summarised in our own words from Topstep's official pages, checked on 2026-09-27.
1. True cost: 50K and 100K
50K evaluation
$198pass first try, 1st month
- Evaluation price$49 per month
- Activation fee$149
- Reset$49
- After 1 failed attempt$247
- Profit target$3,000
- Max drawdown$2,000 (EOD trailing)
100K evaluation
$248pass first try, 1st month
- Evaluation price$99 per month
- Activation fee$149
- Reset$99
- After 1 failed attempt$347
- Profit target$6,000
- Max drawdown$3,000 (EOD trailing)
Monthly fees: The Trading Combine is monthly ($49/mo on 50K, $99/mo on 100K) until you pass; the subscription is cancelled when you pass. No Activation Fee Path: 50K $95/mo, 100K $149/mo, $0 activation.
True cost = evaluation + activation. "After 1 failed attempt" adds one reset (or a new evaluation where resets aren't offered). List prices before any sale or code; firms run promotions often, so confirm the final price at checkout.
2. Drawdown: how you can fail
Topstep: EOD trailing (Maximum Loss Limit, set from the end-of-day balance high; stops at the starting balance).
"EOD" (end of day) means the limit is set from your balance at the close. "Trailing" means the floor rises with your best balance, so profit you give back still counts. "Intraday trailing" follows your balance in real time, including open trades.
3. Payout rules
- 90/10 split
- Standard XFA: 5 winning days of $150+ per payout, request up to 50% of balance, capped at $2,000 (50K) / $3,000 (100K) per request
- minimum payout $125
In short: you keep up to 90% of profits, subject to the conditions above.
Plan notes
Standard Path list prices. Consistency target in the Combine: best day at or below 55% of the profit target (Topstep help centre, 'Consistency at Topstep', rechecked 2026-09-27; third-party guides quoting 50% are out of date). XFA reactivation (Back2Funded): 50K $599, 100K $699. Topstep's affiliate program was reportedly sunset in Aug 2026, so we expect no code.
Is Topstep worth it? The attempt math
| Attempts | You pay (50K, list) | vs the course |
|---|---|---|
| Pass first try | $198 | 4.0× the $49 course |
| 1 fail, then pass | $247 | 5.0× the $49 course |
| 2 fails, then pass | $296 | 6.0× the $49 course |
| 3 fails, then pass | $345 | 7.0× the $49 course |
We don't publish star ratings or testimonials. "Worth it" depends on how many attempts you need, and that's the part you can change: learn the rules and size from the drawdown before you pay. How to pass Topstep →
